Next stop… Florence, Italy
I have many people warning me of pickpocketing in train stations or strangers approaching for direction/help. Honestly, those are valid advice. What i did, i find a wall closest t0 the train schedule board and leaned on it. Don’t stand in an open area, vulnerable to blindspots.
By the way, you can only buy the train tickets in 3 months advance. Train schedule is not available any time earlier than 3 months. Buy your train tix early. Cheaper price!
I strongly advise fellow solo traveler to travel light and go with a backpack if you can. As you’ll encounter many older buildings do not have elevator. But you can be sure that you’ll get a good cardio workout from climbing 10 – 15 flight of steps with your backpack on.
Did i mention wear a good pair of sneakers? It’s a must if you’re planning to do some trekking or hiking like myself. Preferably an old pair where you can chuck it at the end of the trip. Lessen the load and make space of souvenirs!
Do explore the alleys. Nooks and crannies of the city.
Buy a sandwich, a bottle of water and chill at the bridge. Enjoy the moment.
Florence city is also known for… the Outlet malls! One which i really wanted to go is Prada’s but it is located in a remote area, only accessible by cars. Good thing i found a site which offers day tour to Prada Space outlet and The Mall Fashion outlet. Do plan your itinerary, the tour runs on certain days of the week.
Another tip: You can get your VAT refund at The Mall Fashion outlet without queueing at the airport.
