Reset 2017

Planning for my 2017 trips and i’m putting my research and thoughts together. First trip, Phuket in March. From past experience, it will be dry, hot and lots of sunshine. Great time to work on that tan. This is going to be a cheap getaway but not willing to compromise quality especially when it comes to accommodation. Flight: cheap budget promo flight bought 6 months ago  – checked Hotel: i want to stay in Patong area. Initial booking (with free cancellation), Aspery. Cheap, very cheap… located at one end of the… Read more Reset 2017

Coffee Place in Georgetown

A trip to Penang is not complete without hanging out in the many coffee places in Georgetown. Sampling the cafe food and enjoying a good cup of coffee. And taking shelter from the blazing hot afternoon sun. Sifting through the many recommendations found on the internet. I decided to visit 3 – ChinaHouse, Black Kettle and Mugshots. With ChinaHouse and Black Kettle located on beach street and Mugshots on Chulia street. View this post on Instagram Take away. Oatmeal cookies and iced coffee. Super duper good! I'll be back for more!!! #icedcoffee… Read more Coffee Place in Georgetown

Penang – Graffiti Street Art

Went on a maiden trip to Penang. A former British colony and part of the British Straits Settlement. And that was how we got the term Straits Chinese to address the Babas and Nyonyas. It was an eventful 3 day trip. As usual, I wanted to see some arts/culture, venture around the urban setting and explore the nature if i do get the chance. Not forgetting exploring places that are off-the-beaten-track. GeorgeTown was listed as UNESCO world heritage in 2008 given the number of historical sites – temples, mansion, churches,… Read more Penang – Graffiti Street Art

The most scenic walk – Cinque Terre Hike

I signed up for a one day hike through Cinque Terre – a spectacular coastal view. Five unspoiled fishing villages — Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, Monterosso and Riomaggiore — that form the national park. We began our hike from Manarola. Next stop… Florence, Italy

View this post on Instagram #venice #trainstation #travelingto #florence A post shared by @ iamj0n0k on Sep 14, 2015 at 9:28am PDT   I have many people warning me of pickpocketing in train stations or strangers approaching for direction/help. Honestly, those are valid advice. What i did, i find a wall closest t0 the train schedule board and leaned on it. Don’t stand in an open area, vulnerable to blindspots. By the way, you can only buy the train tickets in 3 months advance. Train schedule is not available any time… Read more Next stop… Florence, Italy

I *heart* Venice, Italy

The incentive of getting air ticket 9 months ahead of my trip was definitely the price. The difference was a few hundred dollars which i could use them for my accommodation. In addition, i get to choose fantastic seats! 3 seaters bassinet area – wider leg room. First stop, Venice. September is a wonderful time to be in Venice. Lots of sunshine and breezy too.
