Almost felt like traveling in a time machine viewing snippets of the city once ruled… Read more Roman Holiday – Part 1

Pompeii & Mt Vesuvius

Southern Italy is known for it’s scenic coastal view, pizza and… historical site – ancient city of Pompeii. An ancient Roman city that was buried under volcanic ash when Mount Vesuvius erupted in 75 AD. It was later discovered in the 18th century with most of the things in the city intact! Touring of the south is incomplete without visiting this historical site. Spanish Quarters, Naples

Naples, the 3rd city in my 15 days Italy backpacking trip. Naples or Napoli in Italian sits on the southern part of Italy, a city with magnificent coastal view. The people there tend to speak louder and with more hands gesture as compared to Venice and Florence. First place which i explored in the city after dropping off my backpack is the Spanish Quarters or Quartieri Spagnoli in Italian. My host in Venice did advise me against wandering around in that area but i went ahead. View this post on… Read more Spanish Quarters, Naples

Next stop… Florence, Italy

View this post on Instagram #venice #trainstation #travelingto #florence A post shared by @ iamj0n0k on Sep 14, 2015 at 9:28am PDT   I have many people warning me of pickpocketing in train stations or strangers approaching for direction/help. Honestly, those are valid advice. What i did, i find a wall closest t0 the train schedule board and leaned on it. Don’t stand in an open area, vulnerable to blindspots. By the way, you can only buy the train tickets in 3 months advance. Train schedule is not available any time… Read more Next stop… Florence, Italy

I *heart* Venice, Italy

The incentive of getting air ticket 9 months ahead of my trip was definitely the price. The difference was a few hundred dollars which i could use them for my accommodation. In addition, i get to choose fantastic seats! 3 seaters bassinet area – wider leg room. First stop, Venice. September is a wonderful time to be in Venice. Lots of sunshine and breezy too.
